Air Fryer Baked Potato Recipe
Description
Air Fryer Baked Potato Recipe focuses on preparing scrubbed whole potatoes that are pierced several times to safely vent steam during cooking. Brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt, the potatoes develop a flavorful outer skin. The air fryer heats to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, circulating hot air to cook the potatoes thoroughly in about 40-50 minutes. The potatoes are done when they become soft to the touch. The recipe does not include toppings, leaving flexibility for serving options.
The texture of the potato's interior becomes tender while the outside gains a thin, crisp skin from the oil and salt. This method saves time compared to traditional oven baking and uses an air fryer to deliver a comparable baked potato experience. It's practical for making a small batch of baked potatoes with consistent results.
This dish can accompany a variety of meals or be enjoyed as a base for common baked potato toppings, such as sour cream, chives, cheese, or butter. The recipe is straightforward, relying on minimal ingredients, which keeps the focus on the quality of the baked potato itself.
Leftover potatoes should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and can keep for up to five days. Reheating in a microwave or oven will help restore some warmth and softness.
Ingredients
- 3 potato scrubbed and cleaned
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F. If you air fryer does not have a preheat option, then I recommend running the air fryer for approximately 5 minutes to warm up the air fryer prior to cooking the potatoes.
- Stab each potatoes 5-6 times with a fork to allow for the pressure to release while cooking.
- Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket. Brush the olive oil on the potatoes with a basting brush and sprinkle the sea salt on top.
- Cook the potatoes in the air fryer for 40-50 minutes until the potatoes are cooked through and soft when squeezed gently.
- After the cook time, carefully remove the potatoes (as they will be hot). Serve topped with your favorite potato toppings and enjoy!
Notes
- Store any leftover baked potatoes in an airtight container inside the refrigerator for up to five days to maintain freshness.
