Description

The seasoned thighs are arranged in the air fryer basket in a single layer for even cooking. Air frying at 400°F for 7 minutes cooks the chicken mostly through.

After the initial cook, BBQ sauce is brushed on both sides, and the chicken is returned to the air fryer for an additional 4 to 5 minutes. This second cook helps the sauce cling to the chicken and develop a sticky, glazed surface. The process can be repeated if cooking more chicken thighs in batches. Resting the cooked chicken briefly helps retain juices.

  • 1 lb chicken thighs boneless, skinless
  • 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. To a bowl, add the chicken thighs, oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat well.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overlapping them. A tiny bit is ok, but you’ll have to shift them halfway through, as the chicken thighs will shrink a tiny bit as they cook.
  3. Air fry the chicken at 400F for 7 minutes.
  4. Brush the bbq sauce onto the chicken thighs, flip them over, and brush the other side with bbq sauce as well.
  5. Air fry for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Repeat when any extra chicken thighs you have left over. When done, let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
