Description
This recipe starts by seasoning chicken thighs with oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper for balanced savory flavors. The seasoned thighs are arranged in the air fryer basket in a single layer for even cooking. Air frying at 400°F for 7 minutes cooks the chicken mostly through.
After the initial cook, BBQ sauce is brushed on both sides, and the chicken is returned to the air fryer for an additional 4 to 5 minutes. This second cook helps the sauce cling to the chicken and develop a sticky, glazed surface. The process can be repeated if cooking more chicken thighs in batches. Resting the cooked chicken briefly helps retain juices.

Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken thighs boneless, skinless
- 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ⅓ cup BBQ sauce
Instructions
- To a bowl, add the chicken thighs, oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat well.
- Add the chicken thighs to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overlapping them. A tiny bit is ok, but you’ll have to shift them halfway through, as the chicken thighs will shrink a tiny bit as they cook.
- Air fry the chicken at 400F for 7 minutes.
- Brush the bbq sauce onto the chicken thighs, flip them over, and brush the other side with bbq sauce as well.
- Air fry for another 4 to 5 minutes.
- Repeat when any extra chicken thighs you have left over. When done, let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
