Air Fryer Burgers
Description
This recipe starts with one pound of ground beef shaped into three uniform patties seasoned with either salt, black pepper, and onion powder or steak seasoning. The patties are cooked in a preheated air fryer at 360°F for 10–12 minutes, flipped halfway through. An internal temperature of 160°F ensures safe doneness. Adding cheese slices during the last minute melts them gently from the air fryer's residual heat.
The method results in burgers with a browned, cooked exterior while retaining juiciness inside. The seasoning blends enhance the beef's flavor without overpowering it. Assembly includes hamburger buns or brioche with sliced tomato, lettuce leaves, onion slices, bacon, and desired condiments like ketchup or mayo.
The burgers are convenient for quick meals where a grilled flavor is desired without a grill. Air frying reduces grease splatter and cooking time. Allowing space between patties in the basket helps even cooking and crisping. Adding bread under the basket can catch grease, easing cleanup.
Flipping the patties only once minimizes mess and promotes even cooking. Adjust patty size to control cook time and burger thickness.
Ingredients
Burgers
- 1 pound ground beef 80/20 or lean ground beef (90/10)
Seasoning option 1
- 1/2 Tablespoon salt
- 1/2 Tablespoon black pepper
- 1/4 Tablespoon onion powder
Seasoning option 2
- 1 Tablespoons steak seasoning
Ingredients for assembling burgers
- 3 Hamburger Bun or brioche buns
- 3 lices American cheese
- 1/2 tomato sliced
- 3 lettuce leaves
- 3 onion slices
- 3 lices Bacon
- ketchup mustard, mayonnaise, Thousand Island dressing, fry sauce or BBQ sauce, various condiments
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees F.
- Divide the meat into three sections and pat them into three patties. Make evenly sized burger patties so that they cook at the same rate.
- Sprinkle your desired seasoning over top of the patties, putting half on one side and then flipping them over and putting the rest on the other side.
- Put the burgers in the air fryer basket, making sure they don't overlap and there is room for the air to circulate.
- Cook at 360 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, flipping them over after 6 minutes.
- Check the burgers with an instant read thermometer, making sure they reach 160 degrees F internal temperature. If they aren't done cook them for an extra minute.
- If you want a cheeseburger when the burgers are done add a slice of cheese on top, while the burgers are still in the basket. Close the basket and the residual heat from the air fryer should melt the cheese nicely. To melt the cheese even more cook the burgers with the cheese at 360 degrees F for another minute.
- Assemble the burgers as desired using as many or as few toppings as you like.
Notes
- Ground beef amount can be divided to make either three medium, four small, or two large burgers; adjust cooking time accordingly.
- Place a piece of bread under the air fryer basket to absorb excess grease for easier cleaning.
- Flip burgers only once during cooking to reduce grease splatter and maintain cooking efficiency.
