Air Fryer Burgers
Description
This recipe starts by mixing lean ground beef with burger seasoning, shaping it into two patties. Cooking the patties in an air fryer at 180°C (350°F) cooks them evenly and efficiently, producing a slightly crispy outside and juicy inside. After cooking, each burger bun's bottom half is spread with burger sauce, topped with fresh lettuce, the cooked patty, cheddar cheese slices, and sliced gherkins, then more sauce and the bun top complete the assembly.
Wrapping the full burger in foil and air frying it again for a few minutes ensures the cheese melts and the bun toasts lightly. The recipe highlights techniques like chilling the patties before cooking to help them hold shape and preventing them from bulging in the center by pressing with your thumb. These burgers can be made lower carb by substituting the bun with lettuce wraps if desired, though the final air fryer step with foil wrapping should be skipped in that case.
The recipe accommodates variations in air fryer models by advising to monitor cooking progress and avoid overcrowding the basket for even cooking.
Ingredients
- 200 g Lean beef mince
- 1 tablespoon burger seasoning
- 2 burger buns
- 4 tablespoon burger sauce
- 2 lice cheddar cheese about 25g/1oz each, mature
- 2 gherkins large; sliced
- 50 g lettuce
Instructions
- Put 200 g Lean beef mince and 1 tablespoon Burger seasoning into a bowl. Mix together so everything is combined.
- Form into two patties.
- Put the patties into your air fryer, leaving a gap between them.
- Cook at 180°C/350℉ for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Build your burger by first spreading the bottoms of 2 Burger buns with 4 tablespoon Burger sauce. Add 50 g Lettuce, cooked burger, 2 slice Mature cheddar, 2 Gherkins, more sauce and the bun top.
- Wrap the built burgers in foil and put into the air fryer.
- Cook at 180°C/350℉ for 4 minutes.
Notes
- Handle the meat mixture gently to avoid tough burgers.
- Chill patties in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking to improve their structure.
- Press the center of each patty gently with your thumb to prevent swelling during cooking.
- Air fryer performance varies; check burgers midway to prevent burning.
- Cook only two burgers at a time to avoid overcrowding and ensure proper cooking.
- For a low carb option, replace buns with large lettuce leaves but skip the final air fryer step.
- Using fattier beef will cause more shrinkage of patties during cooking.
