Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks
Description
This recipe for Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks starts by slicing a whole cabbage head into 3/4-inch thick rounds, keeping the stem intact to hold the slices together. Each steak is brushed with melted butter and coated with a mixture of seasonings: Old Bay seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried parsley, and finely shredded Parmesan cheese. The steaks are cooked one at a time in a preheated air fryer at 360°F, typically for 8 to 10 minutes, resulting in crisp golden edges with a tender interior.
The method includes placing water under the air fryer basket to catch drips and reduce smoke, and not overcrowding the basket to ensure even cooking and crispness. The lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley offered for serving add brightness and balance to the seasoned, slightly smoky cabbage steaks. This approach makes a flavorful vegetable side dish with a mix of crispness and softness.
For best results, the cabbage should be cut evenly for uniform cooking and not overcrowded in the air fryer. Water beneath the basket helps prevent burning drippings. Cooking one steak at a time allows hot air to circulate fully for crispness.
