Air Fryer Chicken Wings
Description
This recipe begins by preparing a ranch dressing dip by combining ranch seasoning mix with buttermilk and mayonnaise, which is chilled before serving. The chicken wings are trimmed by removing tips and cutting at the joint for manageable pieces. They are coated with baking powder to improve texture when air-fried.
The wings cook in an air fryer preheated to 375 degrees F, spaced apart for even air circulation and turned halfway through a 25-minute cooking time to ensure crispiness on all sides. Meanwhile, a sauce of brown sugar, hot sauce, and water is boiled briefly and set aside.
Once wings are cooked, they are brushed with a portion of the sauce and returned to the air fryer at 400 degrees F for a short additional cook to set the glaze. The wings are then tossed in the remaining sauce before serving with ranch dip. This method results in crispy wings with a sticky, sweet, spicy coating balanced by creamy ranch.
Practical advice includes preheating the air fryer before use, avoiding overcrowding for even cooking, and using non-stick spray or parchment. The recipe highlights reading the specific air fryer manual for tips, as device features vary.
