Air Fryer Chickpeas

Air Fryer Chickpeas become lightly crispy with a quick high-heat cooking, seasoned simply with salt and optional nutritional yeast for a savory touch. This snack or salad topping is easy to customize with spices or coatings to suit different flavor preferences, making for a versatile and crunchy legume preparation.

Description

The Air Fryer Chickpeas recipe uses canned garbanzo beans that are rinsed and patted dry before being briefly cooked at 400°F to achieve a light crispness without drying out completely. A small amount of oil helps promote crisping, and the beans are shaken midway to ensure even cooking.

Seasoning with salt along with optional nutritional yeast adds depth, while additional spices like paprika, chili powder, or cinnamon sugar can be used for varied flavor profiles according to taste. The result maintains some tenderness inside with a crisp exterior.

These chickpeas work well as a snack or as a crunchy garnish on salads or bowls. The recipe also suggests experimenting with coatings such as vegan ranch or BBQ dressing for variety.

Instructions

  3. Cook at 400 degrees F for 4 minutes, shake up the basket, and then cook for 3 to 4 more minutes, until barely crispy.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and nutritional yeast (if using).

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try seasoning with paprika, chili powder, or cayenne for heat or cinnamon sugar for sweetness.
  • Garlic and onion powder keep the flavor classic if preferred.
  • Use vegan Ranch or BBQ dressing coatings to vary the snack experience, especially for game day.
