Air Fryer Chickpeas
Description
This Air Fryer Chickpeas recipe transforms tender cooked chickpeas into a crunchy snack with a light coating of olive oil and seasoning. After draining and drying, the chickpeas are tossed with salt and optional spices such as garlic powder or paprika. Air frying them at 400°F crisps their skins, giving a satisfying texture similar to roasted chickpeas but with less oil.
The chickpeas become golden and crunchy after 10 to 15 minutes of air frying, with stirring midway for even cooking. They can be enjoyed immediately as a snack or added for texture and flavor to salads or bowls.
If desired, store leftover chickpeas at room temperature in an airtight container for up to two days to maintain crispness. The recipe’s flexibility with spices allows customization for flavor preferences.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups chickpeas drained and rinsed, cooked
- 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon salt plus more to taste, sea salt
- garlic powder paprika, or spice of choice, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Spread the chickpeas on a kitchen towel and pat dry. Transfer the chickpeas to a medium bowl, drizzle with the olive oil, and sprinkle with the salt and pinches of your preferred spice, if using. Toss to coat.
- Spread the chickpeas in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 10 to 15 minutes (I do 12), tossing halfway, or until crispy.
- Enjoy immediately or store at room temperature for up to 2 days.
