Air Fryer Country Style Ribs
Description
Air Fryer Country Style Ribs use pork ribs rubbed with a dry seasoning blend of smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to bring a smoky and savory profile. Cooking in an air fryer preheated to 400°F enables the ribs to develop a browned crust while remaining juicy inside. Turning halfway promotes even cooking throughout the 20-minute period.
A brush of barbecue sauce applied towards the end of cooking adds a tangy glaze without burning, complementing the spice rub. The ribs should reach an internal temperature of 145°F for safe, tender consumption. This method yields ribs with a balance of crisp edges and tender meat.
Serving these ribs with extra barbecue sauce allows customization of flavor intensity. The recipe also suggests cutting ribs into smaller riblets for appetizers or easier portions.
To promote even cooking, bring ribs to room temperature before seasoning and air frying. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, cooking in batches if necessary, and keep cooked ribs warm under foil. Leftovers store covered in the refrigerator for up to two days and reheat well in the air fryer.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds country style pork ribs
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Combine paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl
- Sprinkle seasoning mix over the ribs and rub it into all sides of the ribs
- Spray the air fryer basket with non stick cooking spray and preheat the air fryer to 400°
- Using tongs, put country style pork ribs in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 20 minutes, turning halfway through.
- Brush on barbecue sauce and cook for a further 2 minutes. Using a meat thermometer, the internal temperature should be 145°
- Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side
Notes
- Remove ribs from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to reach room temperature for more even cooking.
- Pat ribs dry before seasoning to help achieve a seared crust rather than steaming.
- Do not crowd the air fryer; cook in batches if needed to maintain crispness and even cooking.
- Apply barbecue sauce near the end to prevent burning the sugars.
- Use a meat thermometer to confirm ribs reach 145°F internal temperature for safe and tender results.
- Cut ribs into smaller riblets before cooking for appetizer portions with reduced cooking time.
- Store leftover ribs in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer at 400°F for 3-5 minutes.
