Air Fryer Crab Rangoon
Description
The filling combines softened cream cheese with shredded imitation crab meat, minced garlic, chopped green onions, and a pinch of salt. Each wonton wrapper is filled with a teaspoon of this mixture, then sealed by moistening the edges with water and carefully folding the corners together, pinching seams to secure.
The prepared wontons are lightly oiled and arranged in the air fryer basket without touching to ensure even crisping. Air frying at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 6 minutes yields golden brown, crispy rangoon with a warm, creamy crab filling.
If desired, the recipe notes that these rangoons can instead be baked in a 400-degree Fahrenheit oven for 10 to 12 minutes, though the texture will be slightly less crisp compared to air frying. Some filling leakage during cooking is common and does not affect the overall result.
Ingredients
- 8 ounce imitation crab meat package
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 4 green onions chopped
- 1 salt
- 1 wonton wrappers package
- cooking oil spray or 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F.
- Shred or chop the crab meat and make sure it is well drained.
- Combine the crab meat, cream cheese, garlic, green onions and salt in a large bowl and stir until well combined.
- Put a wonton wrapper on a cutting board and fill a small bowl with water. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of the wrapper. Dip your finger in the bowl of water and run it around the edges of the wrapper.
- To fold the crab rangoon bring all four corner together above the crab mixture and pinch them together. Then pinch each of the four seams together.
- After you have made 8-10 wonton either spray them with oil or use a pastry brush to brush oil onto them. Place them in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren't touching.
- Air fry for 6 minutes, until they are golden brown.
- Continue making batches of wontons until the filling is used up.
Notes
- Slight filling leakage while cooking is normal and doesn’t impact the final flavor.
- For a baked option, cook at 400°F for 10-12 minutes; expect a less crispy texture than the air fryer.
