Air Fryer Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Peppers

Air Fryer Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Peppers are bite-sized sweet peppers filled with a creamy blend of cream cheese, mozzarella, green onion, garlic powder, and optional sriracha for a mild spicy kick. The peppers are lightly oiled and baked in an air fryer until the filling is warm and soft, resulting in tender but still crisp mini peppers with a smooth, cheesy interior.

Description

This recipe starts with a flavorful cream cheese filling combined with mozzarella and seasonings, including garlic powder and chopped green onion, giving a savory base enhanced by a touch of heat from sriracha if used. Each sweet mini pepper half is tossed in avocado oil to slightly soften and then stuffed generously with the cheese mixture.

Baking at 360°F on the air fryer's bake setting gently cooks the peppers and warms the filling within approximately eight minutes, keeping the peppers intact and not mushy. The result is a pleasing contrast between the smoky-sweet pepper and the rich, cheesy stuffing.

These stuffed peppers work well as appetizers or snacks and can be prepared quickly with minimal cleanup since the air fryer handles the cooking efficiently. Using softened cream cheese ensures an even, creamy filling texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 sweet pepper 14 peppers cut lengthwise and seeded, mini, bagged
  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese softened at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 green onion finely chopped, stalks
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha optional

Instructions

  1. Add the ingredients for the cream cheese filling to a mixing bowl and stir well until combined. If you have an electric hand mixer or a stand mixer, either one will come in handy here.
  2. Slice the tops off of the peppers and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove any seeds that are present.
  3. Drizzle avocado oil over the peppers and use your hands to toss them together until everything is coated with a bit of oil.
  4. Stuff the peppers with the cream cheese filling. Transfer 6 or so of them to the air fryer (in a single layer). Press the Bake setting (not the Air Fry setting) and adjust the temperature for 360 and set the time for 8 minutes.
  5. Allow the peppers to bake then carefully remove them from the air fryer and transfer to a plate. Repeat for the remaining peppers.

Notes

  • Softened cream cheese ensures a smooth filling consistency and easier mixing.
  • Optionally substitute fresh garlic clove for garlic powder if available for fresher flavor.
  • Stuffed peppers can be cooked in batches in the air fryer to manage capacity while ensuring even cooking.
