Air Fryer Cube Steak
Description
This recipe prepares cube steaks by rubbing them with olive oil and seasoning with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to enhance their natural flavor. Cooking in the air fryer at 400°F ensures rapid heat circulation, producing a steak with a browned surface without drying out the inside. The recommended internal temperature of 145°F signals that the steak is medium and safe to eat.
Allowing the steaks to rest for about five minutes after cooking helps redistribute juices, resulting in a more tender bite. The straightforward seasoning lets the beef’s flavor stand out, and the air fryer method offers a convenient alternative to pan-frying.
Leftovers should be stored chilled in an airtight container and consumed within five days for best quality.
Ingredients
- 1 pound cube steak approximately 4 steaks
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Place the cube steaks on a plate. Rub the olive oil onto both sides of the cube steaks.
- In a small bowl, mix together the seasonings and sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly on both sides of the steaks.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, then run the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
- Place the cube steaks in the air fryer in a single layer (you may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
- Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes until the cube steaks have reached an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove the steak from the air fryer. Let them rest for approximately 5 minutes and then the steaks are ready to serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Do not overcook the cube steaks to avoid toughness; aim for medium doneness at 145°F internal temperature.
- Let steaks rest about 5 minutes after cooking to maintain juiciness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
