Air Fryer Egg Rolls
Description
The Air Fryer Egg Rolls start with cooking ground chicken along with minced garlic and ginger to build an aromatic base. Shredded cabbage and green onions are added to wilt the vegetables slightly, keeping some texture in the filling. Soy sauce and rice wine vinegar finish the mixture with subtle savory and tangy notes.
The filling is then spooned into wrappers which are carefully folded and sealed with beaten egg to secure the contents. Brushing or spraying oil on the egg rolls before air frying promotes crispness on all sides. The air fryer is used to cook them in a single layer, turning halfway through to evenly brown the wrappers.
This technique produces a lighter version of classic egg rolls, with a satisfying crunchy shell and flavorful interior. Proper sealing and not overfilling the rolls are key to avoiding leaks. Keeping wrappers covered prevents drying during assembly.
Serving these egg rolls fresh ensures the best texture. They make a good accompaniment to dipping sauces and work as a handheld finger food for various occasions.

- Toss in the chopped cabbage and green onions. Cook until the cabbage has wilted which takes about 4-5 minutes.
- Drizzle the soy sauce and vinegar into the mixture, toss to combine, and then turn off the heat.
Wrap Egg Rolls
- Spread your egg roll wrapper out flat, with one corner pointed toward you.
- Place approximately 3 tablespoons of filling just below the center of the egg roll wrapper.
- Fold two opposite corners together to make a triangle, then fold the sides in and roll tightly.
- Dab a small amount of the beaten egg to seal the edges closed.
- Repeat this process to assemble the rest of the egg rolls.
- Brush or spray the remaining oil onto each one before cooking.
Cooking In Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 350F / 180C, then spray the basket with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the egg rolls seam side down in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes. Turn egg rolls over halfway through the cooking time.
- Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
Make In The Instant Pot
- Spray the Instant Pot insert with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Add the egg rolls with the seam side facing is down, in a single layer.
- Be sure to leave space so the air can get in between them to cook evenly.
- Place the air fryer lid on the Instant Pot and cook for 16-19 minutes, turning egg rolls over halfway through the cooking time.
- Egg rolls are done when they are golden brown and crispy.
Cooking In Oven
- Preheat the oven to 400F / 204C.
- Add parchment paper to a baking sheet and spray with oil lightly.
- Put the egg rolls on the baking sheet, making sure to place them seam side down. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until they are a golden brown color.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or soy sauce and enjoy!
Notes
- Do not overfill the egg rolls; excess filling makes them difficult to seal properly.
- Seal the edges carefully with beaten egg and cook with the seam side down to prevent opening.
- Keep wrappers covered with a damp cloth during assembly to avoid drying out.
- Brush or spray egg rolls with oil before air frying to achieve crispiness.
- Arrange egg rolls in a single layer with space around each for proper air circulation; avoid stacking.
- Flip the egg rolls halfway through cooking to brown evenly.
