Air Fryer French Toast

Air Fryer French Toast uses brioche bread dipped in an egg, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon mixture, then cooked in an air fryer until golden and puffed. This method yields crispy edges with a tender, custardy interior, creating a handheld breakfast treat served warm, often paired with maple syrup or powdered sugar.

Description

This Air Fryer French Toast recipe starts by whisking eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt to create a smooth batter for dipping brioche slices. The bread is coated thoroughly on both sides and arranged in a parchment or sprayed basket in the air fryer.

Cooking at 375°F for 5-6 minutes crisps the french toast’s exterior while keeping the inside soft and moist. The air fryer method avoids excess oil and reduces cooking time compared to traditional stovetop preparation. The result is golden, slightly puffed toast sticks with a delicate cinnamon flavor.

Serve these sticks warm with syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar for a satisfying breakfast or brunch. Their size makes them convenient for dipping and sharing.

Cooked french toast will keep refrigerated for two days and can be reheated in the air fryer. The recipe also freezes well, maintaining texture when reheated directly from frozen for up to three months.

Ingredients

Servings
  • cooking spray if needed
  • 3 egg large
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 8 lices brioche bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer 375°F and line the air fryer with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray if needed.
  2. In a large shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
  3. Dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture and then flip it over to coat both sides. Place the french toast sticks in the air fryer and repeat with as many pieces as will fit in the air fryer at once, about 8-12 pieces.
  4. Cook for 5-6 minutes, or until the french toast is golden brown and puffed.
  5. Serve the french toast sticks warm with maple syrup and powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

  • Store cooked French toast sticks in an airtight container and consume within 2 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for best texture retention.
  • Freeze extras in a sealed bag for up to 3 months and reheat from frozen in the air fryer.
