Air Fryer Frittata
Description
The Air Fryer Frittata is made by cracking whole eggs over parchment-lined air fryer baskets and layering them with a mix of toppings including shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese, pickled jalapeño slices, black olive slices, halved cherry tomatoes, diced red onion, and optional chopped cilantro. Seasoning with salt and pepper enhances the overall flavor.
The air frying process at 350°F for about 15 minutes gently cooks the eggs through while melting the cheese and softening the vegetable toppings without requiring any stirring or flipping. This results in a frittata that maintains intact egg portions with a set but tender texture.
Serving is recommended immediately while warm, optionally accompanied by sour cream and salsa which complement the mildly spicy jalapeños and savory cheese components. The recipe notes highlight testing for doneness starting around 12 minutes due to variability among air fryer models.
Variations can include whisking eggs before cooking for a more uniform texture or customizing with different veggies and cheeses. Leftovers keep well both refrigerated and frozen, and there are multiple reheating methods including the air fryer and microwave to maintain texture and flavor.
Ingredients
- 6 egg
- 1/3 cup cheddar cheese shredded, or Mexican cheese
- 1/4 cup cilantro chopped, optional; aka coriander
- 1/4 cup black olive sliced
- 1/4 cup cherry tomato halved
- 2 tablespoon jalapeño peppers pickled, sliced
- 2 tablespoon red onion diced
- salt to season
- black pepper to season
Instructions
- -Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and crack the eggs directly on top. Add all the toppings, season with salt and pepper and top with shredded cheese.
- Heat air fryer to 350F (180C), and air fry for 15 minutes.
- Enjoy immediately, preferably with sour cream and salsa!
Notes
- Check the frittata’s doneness at about 12 minutes since air fryer times vary.
- Whisk eggs before cooking for a more uniform texture, or crack whole eggs to keep pieces intact.
- Customize with any preferred vegetables and cheese combinations.
- Refrigerate leftovers, wrapped tightly, for 3-4 days; the frittata also tastes good cold.
- Freeze in individual portions wrapped tightly for up to 2 months, and reheat in an oven at 275°F, microwave gently, or air fryer at 350°F for a few minutes.
