Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings are cooked directly from frozen to achieve crispy skin and tender meat without added oil. Wings are cooked at high heat, turned halfway through, and can be seasoned or sauced after cooking. This method provides a convenient way to prepare wings quickly without thawing, perfect for snacks or meals.

Description

This recipe involves placing frozen chicken wings in a preheated air fryer at 400°F/200°C. The wings are arranged in a single layer to allow hot air circulation for crisping. Cooking time is about 20-25 minutes, with flipping halfway to promote even cooking and browning. Additional minutes can be added for extra crispness but watch carefully to avoid burning.

No added oil is needed as the wings have sufficient fat to crisp during air frying. After cooking, wings can be seasoned or coated with sauce of choice for flavor enhancement. The simplicity of cooking from frozen saves preparation time and steps.

It is important not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to maintain crispy texture and even cooking. Wings can be cooked in batches if necessary. Proper storage of leftovers in airtight containers in the fridge extends freshness for up to three days.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 chicken wings or 16 separated frozen chicken wings, uncut, whole, frozen

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to at 400 degrees F / 200 degrees C.
  2. Add the frozen chicken wings directly into the air fryer basket, making sure to spread them out evenly. You may have to cook them in 2 batches
  3. Cook for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time.
  4. For crispier wings, give them a few more minutes but keep an eye on them so they don't burn.
  5. Remove from air fryer, season, or coat with the sauce of your choice before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation for crisping.
  • Cook in batches if your air fryer is small to ensure even cooking.
  • Turning wings at least once during cooking helps promote even browning.
  • No extra oil is required as wings have enough fat for crisping.
  • Cook a few minutes longer if a crisper texture is desired, watching to prevent burning.
  • Use gluten-free wings if a gluten-free dish is required.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Each serving contains 6 WW Blue Plan SmartPoints.
