Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings
Description
Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings combine simple seasonings with fresh garlic, parsley, and Parmesan for a flavorful crust. After seasoning the wings and coating them with olive oil, they are tossed with the Parmesan mixture to evenly distribute the savory topping. Cooking in the air fryer at 350°F ensures a crispy exterior and a fully cooked interior, with guidelines to cook in batches so pieces aren't overcrowded. The wings are cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F and turn golden brown on the outside, indicating they are ready.
The garlic and Parmesan meld during cooking, creating a robust coating that clings to the skin. The parsley adds a fresh herbal note that brightens the rich flavors. This preparation brings out the essence of the simple ingredients with texture contrasts between the crispy skin and tender meat.
Serve the wings as an appetizer or alongside sides like vegetables or salads. Keeping wings warm in a low oven while cooking batches allows serving all wings hot together. Garnishing with extra Parmesan and parsley enhances presentation and flavor.
Cooking times may vary depending on air fryer size, and making two batches is typical for 2 pounds of wings. Adjust batches as needed for your appliance size to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, plus more for garnish, fresh
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated, plus more for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.
- If needed, separate chicken wings into drummettes, paddles, and discard tips. Place wings in a mixing bowl. Season wings with onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
- Pour olive oil over wings and use your hands to make sure the wings are well coated in oil.
- In another bowl, combine parsley, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Pour over wings and toss to coat wings in Parmesan mixture.
- Place wings in an even layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure the chicken pieces do not overlap. (You'll need to cook in batches.)
- Place the basket in the air fryer and cook for 12 minutes. Flip the chicken over a cook for another 10-12 minutes. Chicken is done when the internal temp is 165 degrees F and outside is golden brown.
- Transfer wings to a baking sheet and keep warm in a 200-degree oven until all the wings or done. Or you can serve them up as they come out of the air fryer. Garnish with some extra Parmesan and parsley if desired.
Notes
- Cook chicken wings in batches to avoid overlap and ensure even crisping in the air fryer.
- Keep cooked wings warm in a low oven if preparing multiple batches for serving all at once.
- Freshly grated Parmesan and minced garlic contribute significantly to the flavor, so use fresh ingredients when possible.
