Air-Fryer Gnocchi

This Air-Fryer Gnocchi recipe crisps pre-packaged gnocchi to a golden, crunchy exterior while maintaining a tender interior. Seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, these bites are finished with grated Parmesan and fresh parsley, offering a simple yet textured snack or side dish made quickly using an air fryer.

Description

Air-Fryer Gnocchi utilizes shelf-stable, refrigerated, or frozen potato gnocchi tossed in olive oil and seasonings, then cooked in the air fryer to develop a crispy surface. Shaking the basket periodically ensures even browning and prevents sticking. The gnocchi become golden and crispy on the outside while soft inside, providing a contrast in texture. After cooking, Parmesan adds a salty richness and parsley lends freshness to the dish.

This method is convenient for creating crispy gnocchi without using a stovetop or frying oil and can serve as a side dish or appetizer. Timing varies slightly based on gnocchi type, with frozen requiring longer cook times. The dish is best enjoyed shortly after cooking for optimal crispness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound gnocchi shelf-stable, refrigerated, or frozen
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese grated
  • parsley chopped, for garnish, fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Lightly coat the basket with a non-stick spray or olive oil.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the gnocchi with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss well.
  4. Place the seasoned gnocchi in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. For shelf-stable and refrigerated gnocchi: Air fry at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 11-14 minutes. Shake the basket every 4-5 minutes. The gnocchi are ready when golden brown and crispy.
  6. For frozen gnocchi: Air fry at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for a bit longer, 13-16 minutes. You also need to shake the basket every 4-5 minutes. Stop when golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove gnocchi from the air fryer once cooked and immediately sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley (optional).
