Air Fryer Green Beans
Description
The recipe starts with rinsed, dried fresh green beans which are first coated in flour, then dipped in beaten eggs, and finally rolled in a mix of seasoned panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. This breading approach produces a crispy, flavorful coating when air fried at 390°F.
Cooking time is about eight minutes, checked from six minutes onward to accommodate varying air fryer heat. The result is green beans with a crunchy, golden crust and a tender interior, combining textures and savory seasoning. A sprinkle of extra Parmesan over the finished beans adds flavor and visual appeal.
They are served warm, with an optional dipping sauce suggested in the recipe notes, enhancing the dish with a complementary flavor. This preparation is a crisp alternative to steamed or sautéed green beans and works well as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Green bean rinse and pat dry, fresh
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 egg
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs seasoned
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Dipping sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees F.
- Set up a dredge station using three shallow bowls. To the first bowl add the flour. To the second bowl, add the eggs and beat them. To the third bowl, add the seasoned panko, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- First, toss a few dried green beans in the flour. Then dip them into the egg, and then coat in the panko bread crumb mixture. Repeat with the remaining green beans.
- Place the coated green beans into the basket of the air fryer. (Don't overfill it!)
- Cook for 8 minutes until tender and the crust is golden. I start checking them after 6 minutes since air fryer heat can vary.
- Carefully remove from the basket and repeat with the remaining green beans.
- Serve warm sprinkled with extra Parmesan and your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- The provided dipping sauce excludes horseradish for milder flavor but can be adjusted to taste.
- Nutritional information does not include the dipping sauce.
