Air Fryer Grilled Cheese

This air fryer grilled cheese recipe uses thick-cut bread slices spread with mayonnaise for a golden, crisp exterior. The sandwich is layered with cheddar or colby jack cheese and cooked at high heat, flipping halfway to evenly melt the cheese and toast the bread. The result is a crunchy, cheesy sandwich cooked without a skillet or stovetop.

Description

Air Fryer Grilled Cheese sandwiches are built by spreading mayonnaise on one side of thick-cut bread slices to create a crispy, browned crust once cooked. Cheese slices—cheddar or colby jack—are placed between the bread with the unspread sides facing inward. The sandwich cooks in an air fryer basket at 380°F for 4 minutes on each side, allowing the cheese to melt thoroughly while the bread crisps up nicely. The parchment lining helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.

This method provides a convenient alternative to pan-frying, producing crunchy, evenly toasted bread and melted cheese with little fuss. The sandwich should be cut and eaten warm to enjoy the melty center and crisp exterior.
