Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

This recipe shows how to cook hard boiled eggs in an air fryer by cooking cold eggs at a low temperature and then cooling them in an ice bath. It yields consistent results with easily peeled eggs that retain a firm white and cooked yolk, with timing adjusted to preferred firmness.

Description

The Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs method involves preheating the air fryer to 250°F and placing refrigerated eggs directly into the basket. Depending on desired firmness, eggs cook for 12 minutes for soft-boiled, 14 for medium, or 16 for hard-boiled eggs. After cooking, the eggs are immediately plunged into an ice bath for 5 minutes to halt cooking and facilitate peeling.

This approach produces eggs with a firm white and yolk cooked to preference without water boiling. The air fryer environment gives an even heat transfer, avoiding overcooked edges. Cooling quickly in ice water helps prevent green yolk discoloration and eases shell removal.

Hard boiled eggs can be peeled and served cold, used for salads or snacks.

Cooked eggs keep for up to a week in the refrigerator. Egg yolks alone can be frozen for longer storage when removed from whites. Peeled eggs can be stored in cold water changed daily or sealed containers. Whole eggs can be kept sealed or unsealed in containers.
