Air Fryer Hasselback Potatoes
Description
Air Fryer Hasselback Potatoes start with russet potatoes sliced thinly but not all the way through, creating a fan effect. The potatoes are coated with a mixture of melted butter, salt, pepper, and garlic, with fresh garlic applied carefully between the cuts to avoid burning. Cooking in the air fryer at 400°F crisps the edges while cooking through the inside. The process involves brushing more butter partway through cooking to deepen the flavor and keep the potatoes moist.
The dish results in tender potatoes with a slightly crisped exterior and noticeable garlic butter notes. It's a versatile side that suits many main courses. The use of the air fryer simplifies cooking and reduces oil usage compared to traditional oven methods.
No additional notes accompany the recipe, but care should be taken to slice evenly and position potatoes single-layered in the fryer for optimal results.
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 russet potato
- ½ cup butter melted
- ½ tsp salt each
- ½ tsp black pepper each
- 1 tbsp garlic or 1 tsp garlic powder, minced
Instructions
- Rinse and scrub the potatoes. Pat them dry.
- Slice the potato into ¼ inch slices without slide the knife all the way down. You can place the potatoes between two chopsticks or skewers to help with that.
- Combine the melted butter, salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Brush the potatoes with the butter mixture. If using freshly minced garlic, try to get the garlic between the cuts to protect them from burning.
- Transfer as many potatoes as you can fit in a single layer in your air fryer basket.
- Air fryer at 400F for 25 to 35 minutes, depending on the size of your potatoes. Brush on more butter at the half way more. I try to add the garlic that’s sunk to the bottom of the butter mixture to the tops of the potatoes near the end of the air frying cycle so it doesn’t burn.
