Air Fryer Honey Mustard Chicken Wings
Description
This recipe cooks chicken drumettes in an air fryer at 400°F to achieve a crispy exterior and juicy interior. After flipping halfway through, the wings reach full doneness and crispness. Meanwhile, a warm sauce is prepared by melting butter with Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt, creating a smooth honey-mustard glaze with a subtle kick.
The cooked wings are tossed in this glaze for full coating just before serving. An optional sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes can be added for additional heat. These wings can serve as an appetizer or a protein-rich snack with balanced sweetness and mild spice.
Ingredients
- 12 chicken drumettes
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
- 1/2 garlic powder teaspoon
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
- Add chicken drumettes to the basket of your air fryer and cook for 8 minutes.
- Flip the chicken drumettes and cook for another 8 minutes.
- At this point, the wings should be crispy and fully cooked. If they are not crispy or fully cooked (this can happen depending on the size of the drumettes) cook for another 2 minutes.
- While the wings are cooking warm Dijon mustard, honey, unsalted butter, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt in a 12-inch skillet set over medium heat.
- When the mixture is warm remove it from the heat.
- Add the cooked wings to the honey mustard mixture and toss to combine.
- Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes for additional heat.
