Air Fryer Kale Chips

These Air Fryer Kale Chips use roughly chopped kale tossed with salt and oil, cooked in an air fryer for a short time to achieve crisp, lightly salted chips. The method dries out the kale leaves to create a crunchy snack that retains some leafy texture and a hint of the kale's natural flavor.

Description

Air Fryer Kale Chips are prepared by washing and drying chopped kale, then seasoning it simply with salt and oil. Cooked at 375°F in the air fryer for about four minutes with a toss halfway through, the process crisps the kale without burning. The short cooking time preserves some of the kale's natural color and prevents it from becoming bitter.

This snack can be eaten immediately while crisp or lightly seasoned further after cooking. The chips offer a crunchy alternative to traditional potato chips with a more earthy, green flavor.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 5 cups kale roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp neutral cooking oil olive or avocado oil, generic cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse kale under cool water. Place kale on a stack of paper towels to dry and pat off any excess liquid. Chop the kale leaves into bite-sized pieces. Toss with salt and oil.
  2. Place the seasoned kale in an air fryer basket.
  3. Air fry the kale chips at 375°F for about 4 minutes, tossing them midway through air frying. Since kale is quite delicate, pay special attention that you don't burn the leaves in the last couple minutes of air frying.
  4. Sprinkle with any additional seasoning to taste. Serve right away!
