Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks
Description
The recipe involves cutting mozzarella sticks in half for manageable sizes, then coating each in a sequence of flour, beaten eggs, and seasoned panko breadcrumbs twice to create a thick crust. Cooking in an air fryer at 390°F crisps the coating in 6 to 7 minutes without oil submersion, producing crunchy, golden sticks while preventing cheese leakage.
This method delivers a lighter alternative to deep-frying while maintaining that classic combination of crispy coating and gooey melted cheese inside. Serving them warm preserves the textural contrast and makes them enjoyable for dipping.
Leftover mozzarella sticks can be cooled completely and stored in airtight containers or freezer bags for up to two weeks. Reheat in the air fryer or oven at 350°F until warm to restore crispness without melting the cheese too much.
