Air Fryer Ninja Foodi Hard-Boiled Eggs
Description
Cooking hard-boiled eggs in an air fryer such as the Ninja Foodi involves placing eggs in a single layer on a rack or basket inside the air fryer pot with the temperature set to 250°F. The eggs air fry for 16 to 17 minutes depending on preferred doneness. This method avoids boiling water and steaming, relying instead on a dry heat environment to cook consistently.
After cooking, transferring the eggs immediately to an ice water bath for 5 to 10 minutes stops the cooking process and helps loosen the shells, making peeling easier. Cracking the bottom of the egg with a spoon assists in starting the peeling process smoothly.
Adjustment of time may be necessary depending on the desired softness: soft-boiled eggs cook around 13 minutes, while higher temperatures such as 300°F can cook hard eggs more quickly. Wattage of the air fryer also affects timing. It’s important not to stack eggs to ensure even heat exposure.
The eggs can be seasoned with salt, pepper, or preferred spices after peeling and enjoyed on their own or incorporated into other dishes.
Ingredients
- 10 egg or as many as you would like to make
Instructions
- Place the air fryer basket, trivet, or rack in the cooking pot and place the eggs on top, without stacking them. Set the temperature to 250°F degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 120°C) and time to 16 or 17 minutes, then air fry (see notes).
- Once the cooking time is over, use a large kitchen spoon to transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice-cold water (or an ice water bath, if you have some ice cubes in your freezer).
- Allow the eggs to cool for about 5-10 minutes before peeling. Once cooled, crack the bottom part of the egg using a spoon and peel. Season with some salt and pepper or with your preferred seasonings and serve!
Notes
- Cooking times vary by desired firmness: 13 minutes for soft-boiled, 16-17 minutes for hard-boiled at 250°F.
- You can cook hard-boiled eggs faster at 300°F for 11-12 minutes if preferred.
- Air fryer wattage affects cooking time; most models require 13-15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
- Place eggs in a single layer without stacking for even cooking.
- Preheating the air fryer is not necessary for this method.
- After cooking, cool eggs in ice water to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
- Carefully crack the bottom of eggs with a spoon to help with peeling.
