Air Fryer Pickle Spears

Air Fryer Pickle Spears are crisp, crunchy dill pickle slices coated in a seasoned Ritz cracker crumb mixture with dill and cayenne pepper. The coating crisps in the air fryer without the need for deep frying, offering a spicy, tangy snack or appetizer. The process emphasizes a light but flavorful crust and tender pickle inside.

Description

This recipe transforms pickle spears into crispy air-fried snacks by creating a coating from crushed Ritz crackers seasoned with dill weed and cayenne pepper. After draining moisture from the pickles, they are coated sequentially in flour, egg wash, and the seasoned cracker crumbs. A light spray of cooking spray promotes browning and crispness during air frying at 370 degrees Fahrenheit.

By air frying for 13-15 minutes without flipping, the spears develop a golden and crunchy coating while maintaining the pickle’s characteristic tangy moisture inside. The seasoning balances herbaceous dill with a spicy kick from cayenne. This snack pairs well with creamy dips like Chipotle Ranch.

The recipe allows customization of the crumb seasoning for variations, such as adding Ranch seasoning or Nashville Hot Chicken seasoning for additional flavor profiles. It is convenient for preparing multiple spears quickly and without oil immersion.
