Air Fryer Pork Belly Bites

Pork Belly Bites cooked in an air fryer deliver crispy edges and tender fat with a caramelized glaze from brown sugar and seasoning. The pork pieces are coated with a simple mix of oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then cooked at high heat in batches to ensure even crisping. The result is bite-sized, flavorful pork pieces that are juicy inside with a crunchy exterior.

Description

The recipe starts with cutting pork belly into 1-inch pieces that are patted dry for better crispness. After coating in a mixture of canola oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper, the pork bites are placed in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cooking at 400°F for around 18 to 20 minutes develops a browned, crispy crust while rendering the fat inside, making the pork both flavorful and texturally satisfying.

The bites require occasional shaking and flipping to ensure even cooking and browning on all sides. Multiple batches may be needed depending on air fryer capacity. These pork belly bites can be served warm as a snack, appetizer, or alongside other dishes needing a rich, savory component.

Oven cooking instructions are available separately, offering an alternative way to prepare the pork belly without an air fryer.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 ½ pounds pork belly patted dry, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.*
  2. In a large bowl, combine the oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the pork belly pieces to the oil mixture, covering each piece.
  4. Lay the pork belly pieces in a single layer in the basket of your air fryer. (I was able to fit all of the pieces in the basket, but you may need to split them up into two or three batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.)
  5. Air fry the pork belly cubes for 18-20 minutes, shaking and flipping them a couple of times throughout the cooking time. Please note: Air frying times will depend on the size of your pork belly pieces and the size of your air fryer.
  6. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat pork belly pieces dry before coating to achieve crispy texture.
  • Cook in batches if air fryer basket is small to avoid overcrowding, which can reduce crispiness.
  • Use an oven method if an air fryer is not available (refer to recipe source for details).
