Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin Recipe

This Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin Recipe uses a carefully balanced pork rub including smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and other spices to season the meat. The pork tenderloin is trimmed of silverskin, patted dry, and coated with the rub before cooking in an air fryer at 375°F for about 17 minutes, turning halfway through. This cooking method yields tender and flavorful pork without added oil, leveraging the dry rub for a savory crust. The recipe suits pork tenderloins weighing 1 to 1.5 pounds and emphasizes following the air fryer manufacturer's timing guidelines.

Description

Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin Recipe combines a smoky and aromatic dry rub with quick, even cooking in the air fryer, resulting in a well-seasoned, juicy pork tenderloin. The rub, blending smoked paprika, garlic and onion powders, oregano, mustard powder, cumin, and sage, imparts a complex flavor profile with hints of earthiness and warmth. Removing the silverskin from the tenderloin ensures tenderness, while patting the meat dry helps the rub adhere and promotes a better crust during air frying.

Cooking at 375°F with a mid-cycle turn cooks the pork evenly and helps develop a flavorful outer layer without the need for additional oil thanks to the air fryer's design and non-stick basket. This method makes pork tenderloin convenient and accessible.

The recipe is flexible for pork tenderloins up to 3 pounds when scaling the rub and cooking time. It is helpful to use a meat thermometer to achieve the desired internal temperature, ensuring the pork is cooked through yet still juicy.

Following the manufacturer's air fryer timing is important as models’ heat distribution varies, and there is no requirement to add spray oil to the basket. This recipe is a practical way to enjoy a seasoned pork tenderloin with minimal fuss and cleanup.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 - 1 1/2 pork tenderloin

Pork Rub

  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 3/4 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl whisk together the paprika, salt & pepper, garlic powder, onion, powder, oregano, mustard powder, cumin and sage. Set aside.
  2. Place Pork tenderloin on a cutting board and with a sharp knife remove the silverskin from the pork. Discard the silverskin.
  3. With a dry paper towel pat all the surface of the pork removing as much moisture as possible. Throw away the damp paper towels.
  4. You will use 2 tablespoons of pork rub per each pound of pork tenderloin. Pictured is a 1 pound tenderloin.
  5. Remove 2 tablespoons of the pork rub from the mixing bowl.
  6. Place pork in the mixing bowl with the remaining pork rub and coat the tenderloin with the rub. Gently pat the rub on the pork.
  7. Shake off any excess pork rub and place in the air fryer basket.
  8. Turn the air fryer to 375°F degrees and set the timer to 17 minutes or according to the manufactures recommendation. Turn the pork half way though the cooking time. Cook until the internal meat thermometer reaches 140°F degrees.
  9. Let the pork tenderloin rest for 3 minutes before cutting into it. The meat will continue to cook and according to the National Pork Board, pork tenderloin should reach 145°F degrees.

Notes

  • Pork tenderloins usually come in packs of two; this recipe’s rub quantity covers up to 3 pounds total.
  • Air fryer baskets often have non-stick coatings, so additional oil for the basket is unnecessary.
  • Always adhere to your air fryer manufacturer's recommended cooking times for best results.
  • Using a good quality pork rub, such as one from RecipeTin Eats, enhances the flavor.
