Air Fryer Roasted Garlic
Description
This recipe involves removing excess outer layers from whole garlic bulbs, trimming the tops to expose cloves, and drizzling olive oil along with salt and black pepper. Each bulb is wrapped individually in foil to trap the heat and steam inside the air fryer. Roasting takes approximately 30-35 minutes in the air fryer, yielding tender, pull-apart cloves.
Once cooled, the cloves can be extracted by squeezing or gently prying out whole pieces with a fork. The creamy roasted garlic offers a mellow flavor that contrasts the raw bulb’s sharpness and is versatile in uses such as spreading on toasted bread or incorporating into dressings and sauces.
Storage instructions recommend keeping roasted garlic bulbs in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freezing them covered in oil in ice cube trays for longer preservation and convenient portioning.
Ingredients
- garlic whole bulbs
- olive oil
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- Remove the excess paper/skin from the garlic bulbs using your hands.
- Then, slice the top of the garlic head—just enough to expose the garlic and get the oil and seasonings into direct contact with the garlic. This will also help us get the cloves out when they're finished roasting.
- Set out a few strips of aluminum foil—one for each garlic bulb. Place a bulb into each strip.
- Drizzle with olive oil. Add a pinch of salt, too, and crack some black pepper over the garlic.
- Fold the foil over the garlic, and turn it into a foil pouch before placing in the air fryer.
- Air fry for 30-35 minutes.
- Once done, safely open the foil pouches. Give them a little time to cool off because they're HOT.
- Remove the garlic from the pouches.
- To remove the roasted garlic cloves, you can squeeze them out, which is very satisfying... or if you want to keep your cloves whole, just use a fork to prick them out one by one.
- Use in a variety of ways, including smearing onto toasted bread, adding to various recipes and more!
Bom Apetite!!
Notes
- Keep roasted garlic bulbs stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- For longer storage, freeze garlic cloves covered in oil in ice cube trays, then transfer cubes to a plastic bag after freezing.
- Allow roasted garlic bulbs to cool before handling as they will be very hot right after roasting.
