Air Fryer Salmon Recipe
Description
The Air Fryer Salmon Recipe involves marinating salmon filets in a flavorful blend of soy sauce or Tamari, honey, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and a neutral oil. After a brief refrigeration period, the salmon is air fried at 400°F for 7-9 minutes, depending on thickness, until it flakes easily with a fork.
This cooking method results in moist salmon with a subtly glazed exterior from the marinade’s combination of sweet honey and savory soy sauce. The garlic and paprika provide aromatic undertones and gentle warmth, while the Dijon mustard adds a slight tang and depth. The air fryer crisps the exterior lightly without drying the fish.
The salmon is ready to serve immediately, optionally garnished with fresh parsley. It makes a quick main course suitable for many meals and pairs well with vegetables, grains, or salads.
Salmon can be marinated for a couple of hours before cooking but should not sit in the marinade beyond 24 hours. Store any cooked or raw salmon properly in the refrigerator for up to two days. Freezing is possible but can alter texture. Reheat gently in an oven until warm without overcooking.
Ingredients
- 10-12 oz. salmon
- 2 tsp. soy sauce or Tamari
- 1 Tbsp. neutral cooking oil avocado or olive, generic cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard or yellow mustard
- 1 clove garlic finely minced
- ¼ tsp. paprika
- ¼ tsp. salt to taste
Instructions
- Cut salmon into two equal-sized filets. You can either leave the skin on or remove it, if you’d prefer.
- Whisk the remaining ingredients in a large bowl until smooth and well combined. Add salmon filets and let marinate in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat a 6-quart air fryer to 400 degrees for at least 3 minutes. Once heated, spray the basket with non-stick cooking spray and place the salmon filets, skin side-down, onto the grate. Cook salmon for 7-9 minutes, depending on thickness. The salmon should flake easily with a fork in the thickest portion.
- Serve immediately with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and enjoy!
Notes
- Marinate salmon for up to 24 hours for best flavor absorption; avoid longer to preserve texture.
- Store salmon in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 2 days.
- Freezing salmon is possible up to 4-6 months but may affect texture upon thawing.
- Reheat cooked salmon gently in the oven until warmed through to avoid drying.
