Air Fryer Steak
Description
Air Fryer Steak calls for sirloin steaks about one inch thick, brought to room temperature before cooking. The steaks are brushed with olive oil on both sides and seasoned evenly with steak seasoning. Using a preheated air fryer at 400°F, the steaks cook for 4 minutes per side, allowing the air circulation to brown the meat and maintain juiciness. A meat thermometer is recommended to check precise doneness, with temperatures ranging from rare at 125-130°F to medium well at 145°F and above. The recipe advises cooking in batches if the air fryer basket cannot hold all steaks at once.
This method is convenient for those looking to cook steaks indoors with less fuss and cleanup, producing a consistent cook within minutes. The high heat of air frying helps develop a seared crust essential for steak flavor and texture, while the brief cooking time retains moisture inside the meat.
The recipe is straightforward, relying on minimal ingredients and technique, with room for adjusting cook times based on steak thickness or preferred doneness levels.
Ingredients
- 3 sirloin steak approximately 1 inch thick
- 1 Tbsp steak seasoning
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for 30-45 minutes prior to cooking.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F. Note: If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, then allow it to run for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F to warm up the air fryer.
- Use a basting brush to rub the olive oil allow the bottom of the air fryer basket and then rub the olive oil on both sides of the steak. Sprinkle the steak seasonings on both sides of the steak as well.
- Then place the steaks in a single layer on the bottom of the air fryer basket. You may have to work in batch depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Cook at 400 degrees F for 4 minutes. Then turn the steaks over and cook for an additional 4 minutes at 400 degrees F.
- Use a meat thermometer to check if the steak is done. For a rare steak the temperature should be 125 degrees-130 degrees. For medium rare, the internal temperature should be 135 degrees – 140 degrees. For medium to medium well, the temperature should be 145 degrees – 150 degrees. For well done, the internal temperature should be 160 degrees.
- You can cook the steak for additional time in the air fryer until the steak reaches the temperature that you prefer.
- After cooked, remove the steak to a separate plate and let the steak rest for approximately 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with a delicious garlic butter and enjoy!
