Air Fryer Steak Bites
Description
This recipe requires dicing lean cuts of steak such as sirloin, New York strip, tri-tip, or ribeye into one-inch cubes. The steak bites are marinated for at least 20 minutes with olive oil, garlic, steak seasoning, onion powder, and optionally cayenne pepper to introduce spice. The marination helps infuse flavor and tenderize the meat.
Preheating the air fryer to 400°F ensures rapid cooking and browning. Rubbing the basket with olive oil prevents sticking. Cooking the steak bites in a single layer ensures even exposure to the hot air for a nicely seared exterior. Cooking for 3 to 4 minutes per side achieves a preferred doneness depending on steak size and air fryer model.
Allowing the steak bites to rest for 5 minutes after cooking is an important step to keep them juicy by allowing the meat fibers to relax and redistribute their juices. The resulting steak bites offer a tender inside with a savory, slightly crisp exterior.
Using an instant-read meat thermometer is recommended to check doneness. Avoid using aerosol sprays like Pam in the air fryer, as they can damage the non-stick coating.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs steak diced into 1 inch pieces, lean
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp steak seasoning
- 2 tsp garlic minced
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F. If your air fryer does not have a pre-heat option than run the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes to warm up.
- Then marinade the diced steak in the olive oil, steak seasoning, minced garlic, onion powder and cayenne pepper for at least 20 minutes at room temperature.
- Rub the air fryer basket with olive oil so that the steak does not stick to the basket. Then using tongs place the steak in a single layer in the air fryer.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes depending on how you like your steak prepared and then flip the steak and cook for an additional 3-4 more minutes until the steak is cooked to your preference.
- Remove the steak from the air fryer and let them sit for at least 5 minutes.
- Then they are ready to serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Suitable steak cuts include sirloin, New York strip, tri-tip, or ribeye.
- Do not use aerosol cooking sprays in the air fryer basket to avoid damaging the coating.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to confirm desired doneness before removing steak bites.
- Allow steak bites to rest 5 minutes after cooking for juicier results.
