Air Fryer Steak with Garlic Herb Butter

This Air Fryer Steak recipe features thick rib-eye, strip, or T-bone steaks seasoned simply with kosher salt and black pepper, cooked quickly in an air fryer for a tender, juicy result. The addition of a homemade garlic herb butter with rosemary and minced garlic adds a rich, aromatic finish that melts onto the warm steak. The recipe includes resting the meat to retain moisture and tips for cooking frozen steaks. It’s a straightforward way to achieve a flavorful steak using an air fryer, with suggested uses for leftovers like salads or tacos.

Description

Air Fryer Steak with Garlic Herb Butter offers a straightforward method to cook rib-eye, strip, or T-bone steaks about an inch thick. The steaks are seasoned only with kosher salt and black pepper to highlight the meat’s flavor. Cooking in the air fryer at 400°F quickly sears and cooks the steaks to medium-rare or medium doneness, flipping midway through the process. After cooking, the steaks rest under foil to retain juices and finish with a spoonful of homemade herb butter, blending salted butter with fresh rosemary and garlic for an herby, savory topping.

The herb butter enhances the steak with fresh garlic and rosemary aromas that melt into the meat’s surface, providing a balance of richness and subtle herbal notes. Resting the steak allows the juices to redistribute, improving tenderness and flavor. The air fryer method offers an alternative to grilling or pan-searing, making it viable indoors with less mess.

Leftover steak can be stored securely in an airtight container and enjoyed cold over salad or reheated briefly in the air fryer for a quick taco filling. For frozen steaks, adjusted cooking times at a lower temperature ensure thorough cooking without sacrificing texture. This recipe suits cooks looking for a reliable indoor steak method with a simple herb butter garnish.

Air fry frozen steaks at 360°F for 12-18 minutes, then rest before slicing to ensure even cooking.Store leftover steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator; it can be enjoyed cold or gently reheated in the air fryer.Use one steak at a time in the air fryer basket if steaks fit too closely together to ensure proper cooking.

  • salt kosher salt
  • black pepper kosher salt

Garlic herb butter:

  • 2 Tablespoons butter at room temperature, salted
  • 1 teaspoons rosemary chopped, fresh

Instructions

  3. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
