Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
Description
Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries offer a way to enjoy the naturally sweet and starchy flavor of sweet potatoes cooked with a balance of savory and warming spices. The slices are thinly cut to ensure they cook evenly and achieve crisp edges, helped by coating with cornstarch which aids in crisping. The seasoning blend includes salt, garlic powder, cayenne for heat, and cinnamon which adds a distinctive warmth and depth. A tablespoon of neutral oil helps the seasoning adhere and promotes browning during air frying at 400°F. The fries are cooked until tender yet crispy, checked and turned frequently for even texture.
This recipe provides an option to freeze the fries for up to two months, allowing for make-ahead preparation and quick reheating in an air fryer to regain crispness. Variations include topping with parmesan and parsley after air frying or cutting the potatoes into thicker wedges, which would require longer cooking times. Alternatively, these fries can be baked using adjusted instructions.
The air fryer method provides a way to get crisp fries without deep frying, yielding a satisfying texture and a complex flavor from the spice blend. Sweet potato fries prepared in this manner complement a variety of dishes or can be eaten as a snack.
