Description

This Air Fryer Tofu recipe starts by pressing and cubing extra-firm tofu to remove moisture, then tossing it in a mixture of soy sauce, avocado oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, chili powder, and black pepper for flavor. Cornstarch is added to coat the seasoned tofu evenly, which helps achieve a crispy crust during cooking.

The tofu cubes are spread out in a preheated air fryer basket at 400°F (204°C), not overcrowded to avoid steaming. The tofu cooks for about 20 minutes, being shaken every 5 minutes to promote even browning.   • 12 ounces tofu pressed and cubed, extra firm
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • green onions sliced, for serving

Instructions

  1. Toss the tofu with soy sauce, oil, garlic powder, ginger powder, chili powder and black pepper. Add cornstarch and toss until coated, let sit for a minute, toss again.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400˚F.
  3. Carefully lift the tofu cubes out of the bowl and place on the hot air fryer basket. Air fry until the tofu is golden brown, shaking the basket every 5 minutes, about 20 minutes total. Garnish with green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; too many tofu pieces will steam instead of crisp.
