Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the brown sugar and eggs until smooth and creamy. Add the sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Slice and serve. Enjoy your Alabama Pecan Bread with a cup of coffee or tea!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add ½ cup of raisins or dried cranberries to the batter along with the pecans.
  • This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
  • You can toast the pecans in a dry skillet for a few minutes to enhance their flavor before adding them to the bread.
  • For a sweeter version, drizzle a simple glaze made of powdered sugar and milk over the cooled bread.
  • This bread is a perfect treat for holiday gatherings, gifts, or as an indulgent breakfast.
