Alfredo Sauce Recipe

This Alfredo Sauce is a rich, creamy blend made from butter, olive oil, cream cheese, heavy cream, and two types of grated cheese simmered together until smooth and thickened. The sauce offers a luscious texture and cheesy flavor ideal for coating pasta or enhancing other dishes.

Description

The recipe starts by melting butter and olive oil in a saucepan, then adding softened cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and a seasoning mix. Heating and stirring bring the mixture to a simmer and develop a smooth, creamy base. Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses are stirred in last, cooking further until the sauce thickens and becomes cohesive.

The sauce is rich and creamy with a velvety texture created by the combination of cream cheese and heavy cream. The use of two cheeses adds complexity to the flavor, and the seasoning mix provides balanced seasoning without overpowering the dairy richness.

This Alfredo Sauce pairs well with pasta or vegetables and can be prepared ahead. It requires gentle reheating to preserve its smooth consistency and avoid separation. Leftovers should be refrigerated promptly and used within a few days.

Freezing is not recommended due to separation risks. Reheat slowly on low heat with frequent stirring for best results.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning mix Stone House brand
  • 1/2 /2 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1/2 /2 cup mozzarella cheese grated

Instructions

  1. Add the butter and olive oil to a medium sauce pan set over medium heat and allow the butter to melt. Add the cream cheese, whipping cream and Stone House Seasoning. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, stirring frequently, until the sauce coats the back of a spoon, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Stirring constantly, add the Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses and allow to cook until the alfredo sauce is creamy, thick and smooth, about 3 - 5 more minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and serve.

Notes

  • Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days; refrigerate within 4 hours of cooking.
  • This sauce is not suitable for freezing as it tends to separate and lose texture upon thawing.
  • Reheat gently on low heat on the stove while stirring often to maintain the sauce's creamy consistency.
  • Avoid reheating in the microwave as it can cause the sauce to become oily and separate.
