Almond Cherry Smoothie (my favorite smoothie ever!)

The Almond Cherry Smoothie blends ripe banana, frozen cherries, and spinach with almond butter, almond milk, and extracts for a creamy, fruity drink. Optional additions like protein powder, cocoa powder, and seeds allow personalizing the smoothie for extra nutrition or flavor. The spinach adds nutrition without changing the fruit-forward taste or color much.

Description

This smoothie combines banana, cherry (or mixed berries), and fresh spinach with almond butter and almond milk to create a creamy and nutrient-packed beverage. Vanilla and almond extracts enhance the nutty and sweet flavor profile. The banana provides natural sweetness and smooth texture, while frozen cherries add tartness and fruit depth.

The use of spinach provides greens without significantly altering the flavor or appearance, making it easy to add vegetables to the diet. Blending the ingredients until smooth ensures a creamy consistency. The recipe serves one, and quantities can be doubled for more servings.

Optional add-ins include flaxseed meal for fiber, chia or hemp seeds for healthy fats and omega-3s, Greek or dairy-free yogurt for additional protein, protein powder or collagen peptides to increase protein content, and cocoa or cacao powder to transform the smoothie into a chocolate cherry flavor while adding antioxidants. Adjust almond milk quantity as needed for preferred thickness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 banana ripe, preferably frozen
  • 1 cup cherries frozen, or cherry and berry mix
  • 2 cups spinach organic; will change smoothie color but not flavor
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or dairy free milk of choice
  • Optional add-ins:
  • 1 protein powder scoop, your favorite
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder or cacao powder

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add more milk if necessary. Serves 1. Feel free to double the recipe to serve 2!

Notes

  • Add flaxseed meal to boost fiber and minerals, especially beneficial for nursing mothers.
  • Incorporate chia or hemp seeds to increase healthy fats, fiber, and omega-3 content.
  • Add Greek or dairy-free yogurt for extra protein, reducing almond milk to maintain thickness.
  • Use protein powder or collagen peptides for a protein boost; vanilla or chocolate flavors work well.
  • Include cocoa or cacao powder to create a chocolate cherry variant rich in antioxidants.
