Amazing Ranchero Sauce

Amazing Ranchero Sauce is a smoky, spicy blend made by cooking sautéed onion, jalapeño, and garlic with diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and chipotle peppers in adobo. Pureed and simmered until thickened, it creates a rich, flavorful sauce perfect for Mexican dishes.

Description

This Ranchero Sauce starts by softening chopped onions, seeded and minced jalapeño, and garlic in oil, developing a aromatic base. The mixture is then pureed with canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for depth and heat. Returning to the saucepan, the sauce is boiled and simmered until reduced to about two cups, concentrating flavors. Seasoned with kosher salt and black pepper, it achieves a balanced spicy and smoky profile.

The sauce's texture becomes smooth and thick, making it suitable for topping eggs, meats, or incorporating into traditional Mexican dishes. Its versatility and well-rounded flavor profile come from the combination of fresh aromatics and canned ingredients enhanced by chipotle and chili powder.

After cooling, the sauce stores well refrigerated up to 10 days or frozen for up to two months, allowing for convenient batch preparation. Preparing it in advance helps deepen flavors and provides a ready-to-use spicy sauce for various meals.
