Description
Amazing Steamed Cauliflower in the Instant Pot is a simple method to gently cook cauliflower florets until tender with a slightly firm bite. After cutting the cauliflower into evenly sized large florets, they are placed in a steamer basket inside the Instant Pot above one cup of water. Cooking is set at high pressure for zero minutes, which effectively steams rather than boils the vegetable. This technique preserves cauliflower's natural flavor and texture while making it soft enough to eat but not mushy.
Once cooked, you can quick release the pressure and remove the florets carefully. For an even crunchier texture, an ice bath or cold water rinse after steaming is recommended. Seasoning with salt and pepper allows simple flavor enhancement without overpowering the vegetable's subtle taste.
Ingredients
- 1 cauliflower head
- 1 cup water
- salt to taste, optional

Instructions
- Wash the cauliflower and cut it into equal large size florets (see recipe post for how to easily cut a cauliflower).
- Add water to the instant pot insert. Place the steamer basket in the instant pot insert with the cauliflower florets.
- Start the instant pot and set it on manual or pressure cook mode for 0 minutes on high pressure with vent in sealing position. (Update: Many readers enjoy crunchier cauliflower, for which 0 minutes at low pressure works great)
- When the instant pot beeps, quick release the pressure manually. Remove the steamer basket carefully as it is hot.
- You can place this basket under cold water for a couple of minutes to stop the cooking, give it in an ice bath (optional) or just eat the cauliflower as is.
- Season with salt, pepper and enjoy.
