Apple Cider Syrup Recipe

Apple Cider Syrup is a spiced, sweet syrup thickened with cornstarch and simmered slowly with apple cider, brown sugar, and a blend of warming spices like cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and cloves. Butter and apple cider vinegar add richness and balance its bright flavor. The syrup thickens to a pourable consistency, ideal for drizzling over pancakes, desserts, or breakfast dishes.

Description

The Apple Cider Syrup recipe starts by mixing dry ingredients—corn starch, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, cloves, salt, and brown sugar—then combining them into a saucepan with apple cider, apple cider vinegar, and butter. The mixture is gently brought to a boil and simmered while stirring, allowing it to thicken and the spices to infuse the syrup with warm, aromatic flavors.

The inclusion of apple cider vinegar balances the sweetness of brown sugar and butter, while the cornstarch ensures a smooth, syrupy texture. Ground cinnamon and allspice contribute a classic fall spice profile, complemented by ginger and cloves for subtle heat and complexity.

This syrup can be served warm as a topping for pancakes, waffles, French toast, or ice cream, enhancing these foods with a spiced apple flavor and a glossy texture.
