Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal combines creamy cooked rolled oats with softly sautéed cinnamon-spiced apples and pecan topping. The warmth of cinnamon and maple syrup complements the natural sweetness of apples, while vanilla extract and a pinch of salt enhance the oatmeal’s flavor. This comforting breakfast offers gentle textures and a balanced blend of sweet and spiced notes.

Description

This oatmeal recipe starts by sautéing diced apples with maple syrup and cinnamon until they soften and resemble baked apples. Rolled oats are then cooked in water or milk with maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt, simmered until creamy and tender. Once cooked, the oatmeal is served topped with the warm cinnamon apples and chopped pecans, providing a textural contrast and nutty flavor.

The dish offers a warm, homey start to the day with its creamy consistency and sweet-spiced apple topping. The pecans add crunch and richness, while the cinnamon infuses both oatmeal and apple components with warm, aromatic spice.

This oatmeal warms nicely and makes for a filling breakfast option, balancing sweetness without overwhelming the palate. Adjust maple syrup as desired for sweetness, and serve immediately for best texture.

Ingredients

Servings

Oatmeal

  • ½ cup rolled oats old fashioned
  • 1 cup water or milk
  • ½ Tablespoon maple syrup brown sugar or coconut sugar (optional)
  • ¼-½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons pecans for topping, chopped

Cinnamon Apples

  • ½ cup apples diced
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan combine diced apples, maple syrup and cinnamon and saute for a few minutes until apples are soft and look similar to baked apples. Set aside.
  2. Add oats, water, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and salt to a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a low boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes; stirring occasionally. Oatmeal is ready when the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and are creamy.
  3. Transfer to a bowl and top with cinnamon apples, pecans, a sprinkle of cinnamon and additional sweetener if needed.
