A fun twist on traditional cornbread, this moist Apple Cornbread is lightly sweetened with finely grated apple.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cornmeal 127 grams
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour 100 grams
- 1 teaspoon baking powder 5 grams
- 1 teaspoon baking soda 5 grams
- 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 grams
- 2 tablespoons sugar 28 grams
- 1 large egg slightly beaten
- 3/4 cup whole milk* 6 ounces
- 3/4 cup finely grated sweet apples 132 grams
- 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 ounce

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400º Fahrenheit.
- In a bowl, combine the corn meal, flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Add beaten egg, milk and melted butter.
- Stir until well blended.
- Fold in the shredded apples.
- Pour batter into a greased 8x8 square pan.
- Bake for 16-18 minutes, or until the center is cooked through and it is golden brown.
- Serve warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.

- *I recommend whole milk for this recipe for the best taste and texture, but 2% will work as well.
