  • brown sugar packed
  • corn starch

  • ground nutmeg
  • water

Glaze (optional):

  • powdered sugar
  • milk 2-3 tablespoons
  • vanilla extract ½ teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling: In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened and the filling has thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Make the biscuit dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the cold milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
