Ingredients

Servings
  • 3-4 pounds Granny Smith apple cored and quartered, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar more or less to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Place apples into a large pot. Add vinegar, cinnamon, sugar, water, and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil on high heat, then lower the temperature, cover the pot, and maintain a low simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the apples are completely tender and cooked through.
  3. Remove from heat. Use a food processor to puree the apples.
  4. If the applesauce is too thick, add more water to thin it out.
  5. If not sweet enough, add more sugar to taste. If too sweet, add more apple cider vinegar.
