Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps combine ground turkey with crunchy vegetables like shredded carrot, mushrooms, and water chestnuts, cooked in a savory-sweet sauce of hoisin, soy, and chili paste. Served in crisp butter lettuce leaves, this dish balances tender meat, fresh crunch, and bold Asian flavors.

Description

This recipe sautés ground turkey in sesame oil until nearly cooked through, then adds shredded carrots, chopped mushrooms, water chestnuts, green onions, and minced garlic for texture and flavor. The mixture simmers briefly with a sauce of hoisin sauce, low-sodium soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and red chili paste, yielding a balanced blend of sweetness, tanginess, and mild heat.

The filling is spooned into fresh butter lettuce leaves, whose crispness contrasts the tender filling, making a handheld, light wrap. Butter lettuce is recommended for its soft yet sturdy leaves, though Boston or iceberg can be substitutes for crunchier textures.

This dish serves well as a light lunch or appetizer and showcases textures from the water chestnuts and carrots alongside the flavorful meat.
