Asparagus Roll Ups

Asparagus Roll Ups consist of trimmed asparagus spears wrapped in puff pastry layered with cream cheese and topped with parmesan cheese. Baking at 350°F creates a flaky, golden pastry envelope enclosing the tender, slightly crisp asparagus, offering a combination of creamy, savory, and fresh vegetable flavors in an elegant appetizer or side dish.

Description

The Asparagus Roll Ups recipe starts by rolling out a sheet of puff pastry lightly dusted with flour, then spreading a generous layer of cream cheese. The pastry is sliced into strips, each used to encase one or more trimmed asparagus spears. A brush of beaten egg and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese atop each roll create a golden finish during baking.

Baking in a preheated 350-degree oven for 12 to 16 minutes results in puff pastry that is crispy and flaky on the outside, while maintaining asparagus that is cooked yet firm. The rich cream cheese adds moisture and tang that contrasts well with the subtle bitterness of asparagus and the salty note of parmesan.

These roll ups function well as a finger food or a complement to a main course. They are elegant yet straightforward to make, combining few ingredients to achieve layered textures and flavors that highlight the asparagus in a buttery, cheesy pastry.
