Description
This dressing combines the creaminess of ripe avocado with the tanginess of buttermilk and sour cream, augmented by mayonnaise for extra richness. Added cilantro and garlic provide fresh, aromatic notes, while Dijon mustard and Tabasco sauce introduce subtle heat and depth. Salt and black pepper season the dressing to taste.
The ingredients are blended in a food processor until smooth, ensuring a thick, creamy texture suitable for drizzling over salads or using as a dip for vegetables, chips, or other snacks. The fresh avocado gives the dressing a vibrant green color and a buttery mouthfeel.
This dressing can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three days, maintaining freshness. Adjusting salt, pepper, or spice levels after blending allows customization to personal preference.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup buttermilk low-fat
- 4 Tbsp sour cream
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 avocado or 1 smaller avocado, large
- 1 Tbsp cilantro
- 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard we used Grey Poupon brand
- 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce
- 1 garlic minced or pressed, clove
- 3/4 tsp salt or to taste (I used sea salt)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor, pulse to combine then blend until smooth, scraping down the bowl if needed.
- Season with more salt and pepper to taste if desired (I didn't think it needed any) and serve as a dip or salad dressing. Refrigerate any unused portion in a small airtight container (the less air inside, the better) up to 3 days.
