Bacon & Brown Sugar Chex Mix

This Bacon & Brown Sugar Chex Mix combines honey nut and regular Chex cereals with diced bacon and a buttery brown sugar coating baked to caramelized perfection. It offers a sweet and savory snack with crunchy textures from the cereals and rich depth from the brown sugar glaze and bacon bits. This mix is excellent for casual snacking or parties.

Description

The recipe starts by melting butter and brown sugar together over medium heat to create a glossy, bubbling syrup which lightly coats a mixture of two types of Chex cereal and diced cooked bacon. After gently combining the cereals with the brown sugar mixture, the blend is baked at 350°F first for ten minutes, stirred, and baked another five minutes to ensure caramelization and even coating.

The result is a crunchy snack mix with sweet caramel notes balanced by smoky bacon flavor throughout. The two cereal varieties add different textures and sweetness levels. This savory and sweet combination creates an indulgent yet approachable snack.

This Chex mix can be cooled, served immediately, or stored in an airtight container. Options include substituting peanuts for one cup of the cereal to add a nutty element, though the recipe as given is nut-free.
